Carolina vs. Georgia

Penny:
and here we sit, the second game of the season...and that means its time for david pollock nightmare-flashbacks, quincy carter heisman dreams ending, and the return of flea-bitten mongrels named uga. on one hand im stoked that fred gibson is on the dolphins practice squad, but theres still that deep seeded hatred for his alma mater. we all hate georgia. plain and simple. and we always play them well (minus our athens road trip in 2003. jay got jumped, my truck almost blew up on i-i95, and lj lost our dog) but rarely come out ahead. it all changes this year. if you HONESTLY think the ole' ball coach came out firing vs. miss state youre crazy...the offense will open up this saturday night. add to that we have actually faced a real defense (unlike opening up against western kentucky) and blake should be ready to rock. we threw to sidney sparingly last thursday, expect him to make himself known as we roll mark richt right out of willy-b

Bill:
UGA's D vs. Carolina's O: For Carolina to have any success this week, the O-line must improve greatly on their effort from last week. Simply put, Carolina will not have a chance to win if the line doesn't give the running backs room to run and Blake time to pass. Georgia has a tough defensive line, headlined by all-everything Quinton Moses, but it will not be much better than the Mississippi St. line. Therefore, it is up to Carolina to play better on the line which will in turn create more scoring opportunities for the offense.

UGA's O vs. Carolina's D: UGA Coach Mark Richt said today that two quarterbacks will play Saturday. While he did not go so far as to say which two, it is a certainty that whoever is under center will be taking his first snaps in an opposing stadium. Further, last week's starter, Joe Tereshinski was unimpressive against a weak Western Kentucky team, completing 7 of 17 passes for a paltry 90 yards. True freshman Matt Stafford played sparingly and will almost certainly have the "deer in the headlights" look when he steps onto the field Saturday. If Carolina can put some pressure on the quarterback, the UGA quarterback (whoever he is) will be pressured into mistakes. The way UGA can counteract this inexperience at QB, however, is by a strong running game, and the Dawgs have the horses in the backfield to do it. Therefore, it is imperative that Carolina stuff the run early on and force UGA into passing situations.

The Call: Carolina 17, UGA 14

Dev:
I was nervous all week but I'm puttin' on the garnet shades. All I'm saying is Cocks by 3.

bill, nice simple breakdown of the game. for the most part i agree with what you said. i have to come to the defense of my qb though. joe t had 4-5 balls dropped including one in the endzone. he was never able to throw up that many yards for two reasons. he only played 2 qtrs and the return team put him in short yardage situations when they were not scoring touchdowns. not saying he is that great of a qb, in fact far from it, only that the stats did not accurately reflect his play. and if any of the two qbs that see action from us is going to get flustered by the environment, trust me it wont be matt stafford. i dont get in the habit of hyping up 18 yr kids. (i know you dont know me, but trust me when i say that i understand that they are only kids and recruiting rankings are not always accurate) but stafford is just cut from a different mold. even when he walks out on the field you can see confidence he radiates (and yes, i understand how ridculous that must sound from your perspective). it is not a confidence that david green had. he had a calm demeanor that said he could lead us through and situation. stafford has that confidence that says he will make plays. i truely believe that if he plays there is no way georgia loses. but it will be up to FGJ on how much he plays. i guess we'll see on saturday. like i said in the duke/wake post, i think the dawgs pull it out 16-10. btw, i'll be the first to eat crow and say i was wrong if stafford gets in and throws 3 picks. there is just a weird gut feeling i have about him though.

Joe Tereshinski is a good QB does anyone not remember when he steped in and did that gay ass td run to put carolina away? anyway no 18 year old has what you just described, note no true freshman QB has ever won the national Title game end note; so mark, mike, dike or matt stafford is not some dreamy QB- go back to watching laguna beach if you keep describing dudes like that (ya queer)... look for south carolina to abuse the weak ass secondary of georgia (hello OJ Murdock your then newest house hold name since zola davis) but will have trouble sticking it in (like tom tom with an 18 year old)..... georgia will take advantage of our secondary a few times but not often... but enough for them to punch it in 3 times on the ground... look for more scoring then the MSU game but not too much more...like polick was overrated so is moses, (he will have one sack at best)along with them thier school is as well... South Carolina winning on a late 43yrd field goal 23-21 in game that will take center stage on a night when texas takes a bad loss to ohio state 34-14...

UGA is my bitch Love,

JR

USC's offense now ranks 110th out of 119 Division I-A schools in both scoring offense (7.5 points a game) and rushing offense (58 yards)....your post was way off....new offense is called Cock and Misfire....or firing blanks...
