penny: florida state @ miami

well kiddos, its nearly september and that means two things...the long awaited return of college football and a hurricane is about to hit south florida. outside of boarding up houses and stocking up on dry goods everybody here is stoked for florida state vs miami.
florida states' drew weatherford is about to have a huge year, but he'll be overshadowed through the season by lorenzo booker. he put on 15 pounds this off season and has gone from scat back to running people over in spring drills. mickey andrews, lifer at offensive coordinator, has found the candidate to take over where greg jones left off two years ago. buster davis at middle linebacker hopes to anchor a back seven which returns only two starters.
on the other side of the ball, former national champion coach larry coker finds himself on the hot seat after back to back 9-3 seasons and a 40-3 ass kicking at the hands of lsu at last years peach bowl. everyone's favorite florida state drop out, jay '109 solo tackles in a season' williams, reports breaking in 4 new coches has been shaky for coker. personality conflicts and differences in opinion of team direction have flared between the head coach and personal hired not by coker, but by miami's athletic director. kyle wright is the real deal, but his favorite reciever in ryan moore and the team's top returning rusher in tyrone moss have both been suspended for the first two games of the season. keep an eye on returning all-american brandon meriweather at safety.
forget that the 'noles are dogs in this game, they not only cover but win. theres no such thing as a home team in the citrus bowl...there will be as many garnet and gold shirts as there are orange and white. lack of team chemistry in coaches and player replacements will hamper miami for the first couple games of the year before they redeem themselves 3 weeks into the season with a win at louisville.

...and there you have it. Maybe Miami should have scheduled UCF for their first game.

Don't worry this is the last year Miami and FSU open the season with each other.

I agree with this pick as long as Weatherford keeps his cool and doesn't try to test Meriweather all night!

The only reason for that is because they expect to play each other every year in the ACC Championship. I think that is another example of the wussiness of those Florida teams. We will add in those Cali teams as well. You know, a "powerhouse" like Southern Cal lines up against Fresno State late in the year and only wins the game because the refs pulled some shenanigans.

Miami is missing too many key players. I remember one time when Jay made every tackle in a game. He was unstoppable. It was almost like there were 11 jays on the field at one time. He could be the Willie Corn of Florida state.

Crummy you must include the biggest Winner team of all time, Notre Dame. lets play a cake schedule every year and hope that USC and Michigan are off that day. We will practice up on Army, navy, the coast guard, Marines, School for the deaf and Blind and then finally play Dev's flag football team. With ole Dev " i have to tip the ball before I catch it" Desai at WR, Even Notre Dames DB would be shacking in there free Nikes.

i wouldnt go as far as to say that florida teams are wusses...fact is the national championship runs through florida each and every year. the big three are always SOMEWHAT evenly matched here because of all the kick-ass recruits in state. of course this early season teaser for the ACC crown still wont hold a candle to the rock hill v. northwestern battle for the cherry grove

Corruption is the key to a good football program. Miami and FSU should win every year with as much stuff as they get away with. Remember Willie williams from last years recruiting class. enough said.

You are correct that the national championship runs through Florida most years, however, I submit that many times in the past Miami and FSU have been given far too much credit for winning games over mediocre opponents. Not to mention they would lose a game to each other and lose nothing in the polls. We all know that when teams from other states that are highly ranked lose to high ranked teams they suffer significantly. I will give UF its due because it does play in a real conference and lines up week after week against tough SEC teams.

Miami constantly puts out the the fire of ohh VT is gonning to make a run at a national championship...
not to mention beating FSU's ass every year ... which they will tonight...
last year was a fluke in that the kicking problem was mixed up and the football gods thought that FSU was attempting the field goal...

Miami will win this game and its because of the Darker then night players we recruit out of jail.... these guys are so fast that even light itself can't catch them, hence why they are so black...

you all are full of shit and are not muting your fucking tv during espn gameday... thats exactly why you bitches bought all that hype about CAL...

then what happened ya'll all jumped ship on fellow sec power house tenn when ya'll thought the ship was sinking and muthafucker i turned it into a submarine (when i said they would beat the hell out of cal) and now we staring at you at you through the parascope looking at your bitch ass... cause bitch you ain't got no clap so get out... miami 38 FSU 17
